These are the terms on which Harper Quantity Surveying ("we", "us", "our") provides quantity surveying reports to you. By instructing us to prepare a report, you agree to these terms.

The service

We prepare quantity surveying reports based on the drawings and information you provide. Each report includes a quantity takeoff, material and labour quantities, a professional review and a PDF deliverable.

Our reports are produced by experienced, RICS-certified quantity surveyors.

How to instruct us

  1. Send your drawings and a brief description of the project to estimates@harperqs.com.
  2. We will confirm whether we can produce the report and how long it is expected to take.
  3. If you ask us to proceed, we will prepare the report and send it to you for review.
  4. You then decide whether to accept the report and pay the invoice.

Price and payment

The price for a standard report is £300, unless we have agreed something different in writing in advance.

You only pay if you are satisfied with the report. We will issue an invoice when you confirm you are happy with what we have delivered. Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date by bank transfer.

If you are not satisfied with the report, you do not have to pay and you have no obligation to take any further steps.

What you need to provide

For us to produce an accurate report you should:

  • Send drawings that are reasonably legible and complete (PDF, architectural or construction drawings)
  • Let us know of any specific assumptions or scope considerations
  • Respond to reasonable queries within a sensible timeframe

We will let you know if anything material is missing.

What our reports are (and are not)

Our reports are professional estimates of quantities and indicative cost, intended to help you price and tender work. They are not:

  • A guaranteed final cost
  • A structural, planning or building-regulations report
  • Legal, financial or contractual advice

You remain responsible for verifying quantities on site, complying with regulations and entering into any contracts.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded by law

Subject to the above, our total liability to you for any loss arising out of or in connection with a report is limited to the amount you have paid us for that report. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of contract or loss of business opportunity.

Intellectual property

Once you have paid for a report, you are free to use it for any reasonable purpose connected with the project it was prepared for. We retain copyright in the underlying templates, methodologies and our brand.

You may not on-sell the report as if it were your own work.

Confidentiality

We treat the project information you share with us as confidential. We may share it with our technology provider to improve their AI model, in order to increase accuracy for you and other customers. Otherwise, we will only share it as necessary to prepare your report or where required by law.

Cancellation

You may cancel an instruction at any time before we deliver the report. If you cancel after we have started but before we deliver, we will not charge you for the work done.

We may decline an instruction, or stop work, if information provided turns out to be incomplete, inaccurate or beyond the scope we agreed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or in connection with them.
